Reading #2

A logo for a business or an individual can't be so complex that the viewer has to sit down and rack his/her brain trying to infer a meaning. But it shouldn't be too simple where it appears there was absolutely no creative thought process behind it. It needs a happy medium and I think that's what the article was saying.

I never realized that putting two dots and a line onto basically any closed shape could make you see a face. Or anything in the real world that even slightly resembles two dots and a line in that configuration and we see a face. We really are obsessed with ourselves!

Reading 1

1. Our culture survives on consuming and buying products...if there was no advertising...consumption would go way down...it wouldn't disappear, but people wouldn't have a good way to know what's out there and what they should or shouldn't purchase.

2. "The window of the soul is the mouth"
That seems like an odd statement but the more I think about it the more it seems true. You can't tell much about a person by just looking at their eyes. You have to hear them speak, listen to what they're saying...So even though that statement was refering to a smile, it actually could mean more than just that because out of context it makes even more sense to me that to really know a person they have to speak and you have to listen...that doesn't happen by just looking at them even if it is deep into their eyes.
